About Us

changing the chess narrative one challenge at a time

64CC

THE BACKGROUND

The game of chess has endured many centuries and remains one of the world's most respected games today. Chess is regarded as a game of intellectuals and chess players have continued to stand out from among their peers in areas including but not limited to strategic thinking, decision making, and overall intelligence.

Organized Chess in Nigeria has picked up considerably over the years, especially with the efforts of the Nigerian Chess Federation and many chess-playing setups across various locations. However, it is a fact that this noble game is yet to reach its full potential in terms of popularity and general acceptability.

The 64Spots Chess Challenge is designed to change this narrative with one challenge at a time

THE PLATFORM

The 64Spots Chess Challenge (“64CC” or “The Challenge”) is a series of organized chess tournaments aimed to create a vibrant community of chess players. The players would be well profiled and would include professionals from all walks of life.

The platform would also promote networking and personal and corporate branding of players, sponsors and partners as all stakeholders would have the unique opportunity of further improving their fanbase and followership of their personal and corporate brands.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Community Building

We hope to build an organized community of chess players, chess lovers and chess enthusiasts through periodic tournaments and organized meet ups where new chess talents are discovered and raw talents are groomed. We hope to have 1000 active members within the first 2 years of operation

1

Brands' Growth

We would create an avenue for the marketing and growth of the personal and corporate brands of players, partners, sponsors and other stakeholders through effective networking and targeted publicity across diverse channels.

2

Global Positioning

Nigeria currently ranks 88th position out of 184 countries on the FIDE Global Rankings and 7th in Africa behind Tunisia (81st), South Africa (76th), Zambia (75th), Morocco (70th), Algeria (66th) and Egypt (48th). Nigeria currently ranks 74th on the Women's Rankings and 3rd in Africa, behind Algeria (65th) and Egypt (59th).

Nigeria currently has 46 FIDE titled players, 7 International Masters and no Grandmaster. We believe it is time to change this narrative and our dream is to get Nigeria into the top 50 countries in the FIDE Global Rankings by 2025.
